New Youth Worker

Dear All,

I’m James your Messy Church, Schools and Community Worker for Birstall and Rothley and work on the Messy Churches that run at Birstall on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 4am and at Rothley on the 4th Saturday of the month at 3pm to which everybody is invited whether you’ve been going to church regularly for years or never been inside it is great fun for all the family. Aside from Messy I lead assemblies and contribute to RE lessons in a number of local schools- which is an amazing privilege and I ask that you keep me in your prayers as I go about this work.

Prior to joining Leicester North Circuit I had been worshipping in Leeds, having just completed an MA in Theology and Religious Studies there, and am still active at the church where I have been a member since I was 16 in Berwick-upon-Tweed. I became a Christian, initially, because an assembly led by the local vicar mde me want to explore what it means to be a Christian and follow Jesus. I later joined the Methodist Church where I eventually remained. In my working life I worked in the Education Outreach department of the University of Leeds where I went into various schools and colleges giving talks on Higher Education and delivering workshops.

Outside of church my major passions are: fitness- you’ll find me at the gym most days ;), coffee and good cake of which I eat far too much, political activism and travelling around the UK visiting friends and family. If you ever want to discuss what I do feel free to get in touch
